This instrument can be used to spread open up the space created in the sternum thus allowing more direct access to the surgical field. The retractor is strongly built but comes equipped with adjustable blades to allows insertion and subsequent spreading.

The ribbed handle increases gripping while the hooked blade allows for a stable hold on the scapula to give unobstructed access to the surgical field.
